Finding Love At 25 Poetry

At 25, chances of finding love are bleak.
It was easier when I was 16 and in school,

High on half read Shakespeare books,
Writing poetry like Orlando but oblivious

of betrayal like Caesar,
Love was a dialogue and not a montage where

the separation was being plotted,
We’d address each other as Romeo and Juliet,

Unaware of the end or the burden of heartbreak.
It was easier when I was 19 and in college,

Relapsing like an addict expecting a different
outcome,

Carrying the incomplete pieces of my jigsaw
to find the perfect match and confusing romance

with intimacy,
Love was draped in a rainbow and letters full

of lifetime promises,
With gestures so big that the world would

feel small,
Although the moon and stars were now safe.

It was easier when I was 21 and I met you,
Like an atheist re-believing in God,

In hopes to fill a void that was never your
job,

You and I were the intimacy of a forehead
kiss,

And romance like that is a curse if lost,
A lesson I learnt on completing those Shakespeare

books,
At 25, chances of finding love are bleak,

Especially after I’ve lost you.
